Flip Video script

31st January 2012.

Today, we gathered with the performing arts group. Acouple of weeks ago, we put together a script for one of our units. The script was based on conflict in the workplace and different roles that people have.
We (business students) put together the script and the performing arts students performed our scripts. I worked in a group with Fiona, Lucy, Amie and a few performing arts students. After this was performed we were introduced the final design of the poster.
Once the poster had been shown to us, it was printed several times and put up around the college. Putting the poster in the right places is essential so that it portrays the right image and attracts people to read more about it.
As well as making money from the tickets and refreshments sold, we are reaching out to local businesses. In our workshop, we (me lucy and fiona) emailed a variety of businesses located on Milton Park. Below is a copy of the email that we sent out :

Please find attached poster for a children’s theatre show called SpaceMonkey, which will be performed by students at Abingdon & Witney College on Saturday 25th February. Would you please put a copy of this poster up on your notice boards and forward it by e mail to anybody you feel would be interested? We hope that you will be able to help us with this exciting project which will provide a great afternoon of entertainment for young children.
There is a limited opportunity to advertise in the programme for this show at a cost of £20 for a half A5 page advertisement. Please contact Suzanne.willings@abingdon-witney.ac.uk to discuss this further.

We are hoping for a positive response from businesses. And maybe some may even attend the performance.

Marketing Plan

This week, we have put together a marketing plan. This consists of all the different ways that we could market our performance out to the public. We thought of as many as we could from college radio to Jack FM and scgool newsletters etc. We also included the way that we would use sponsors to our advantage and the way they will help us keep our costs to a minimum.
Keeping our costs down is one of our main targets because we have to be able to budget for everything we need. We dont want to be spending extra money when we dont need to.
Now we have thought of all the ways we can market the performance, we need to get into contact with the correct people to get our advert out. This will be the next step.

Adertising the performance

Last week we gathered with the performing arts group to design the poster that would be used to advertise the performance. We were split into groups that contained at least one person from performing arts (Me, Fiona, Lucy, Amie and Bromwyn). Together we came up with a design for a poster that we thought would be appropriate to our target audience.
When we had designed it in rough, we (business students) had to produce it on the computer and submit it. We await confirmation of who's poster will be finalised as the official poster.

Space Monkey

Space Monkey is the final name that has been given to the performance. This is the brief that we have been given for the performance:

A class of children are enjoying story-time at school.  Their teacher has to leave and tells them not to touch anything.  The room is full of boxes and craft materials.  The children can’t keep still.  They find a box which is full of red noses.  Anything is now possible!  They produce lots of stars and create a beautiful night sky.  In one of the boxes they find a spacemonkey!  The monkey is frightened, sad and lost. They make a space-ship and fly through space in search of its home……  On their journey they get sucked into a black hole, lost in a maze, confronted by the Blastmonsters…. and when they return they get told off!

The performance is going to be on Saturday 25th February. It will performmed at 12.00 and 2.30pm.  Ticket prices will cost
·         £5 per person, family ticket £15 (2 adults, 2 children).
